Two-Tone Gothic Women's Leather Belt Pouch with Floral Embossing
Historical Context and Use of the Pouch
The design of this tasteful women's pouch is based on originals from the turn of the 14th century, specifically from the region of Western France. During the Gothic period, such pouches became an indispensable part of the clothing of noblewomen and wealthy burghers. Garments at the time generally lacked pockets, which is why coins, keys, small jewellery, or fragrant herbs were carried in such belt pouches. The ornamentation and quality of the material clearly reflected the social status of the owner. The pouch is easily worn threaded onto a belt thanks to the massive leather loop at the top. Today, you can use it perfectly at historical festivals, LARP events, or as an original and eye-catching handbag for everyday wear.
Expert Care for Combined Leathers and Safety
Since this product is made from a combination of two differently treated leathers, it requires specific care. We recommend treating the smooth leather on the flap and back panel at least twice a year with a high-quality leather balm containing beeswax. On the contrary, you must never apply wax or grease to the brushed leather (suede) on the front panel, as it would irreversibly glue the fine fibres together. To protect it, exclusively use impregnating sprays designed for suede and clean it with a special rubber brush. If you get caught in the rain on your expedition, always dry the pouch slowly at room temperature. Strictly avoid drying it on a radiator, near an open fire, or with a hair dryer. For safety reasons, never carry sharp objects inside (such as scissors, awls, or knives without a solid sheath); there is a risk of cutting through the material and injuring yourself.
