Are you looking for an authentic accessory for your Viking costume that isn't just a blunt prop but a fully functional tool? The Jarlath Seax is a beautiful example of knife craftsmanship inspired by Northern history. The seax (or sax) was a universal tool for Vikings and Germanic tribes – serving as a working knife in camp but also as a backup weapon in battle. This model boasts a sharp blade, making it suitable for collectors, bushcraft, or as a functional costume accessory, but not for contact reenactment combat. Further product information ...

Viking Seax Jarlath with Leather Scabbard and Brass Fittings

A Fusion of Functionality and Art

The blade is forged from carbon steel and features the characteristic shape with a straight edge and a "broken back," typical of Viking seaxes. The blade is supplied sharp, so you can cut and chop with it without issues. The handle is made of dark hardwood and is finished with brass fittings. Both the bolster and the pyramid-shaped pommel are decorated with a detailed relief of a Celtic knot or triquetra, adding nobility to the weapon.

Horizontal Carry

The seax comes with a high-quality scabbard made of genuine brown buffalo leather. Its construction with two loops is designed for the traditional horizontal carry on the belt at the back or side. Thanks to this, the long blade does not get in the way when walking or sitting, and the weapon can be drawn very quickly. The scabbard is decorated with stitching and is sturdy enough to safely protect the sharp blade.

Tool Care

Since the blade is made of carbon steel, it requires maintenance to prevent rust. Always clean and oil it after use. If you are not using the knife for a long time, do not leave it in the leather scabbard, as it can absorb moisture. Occasionally treat the wooden handle and leather scabbard with suitable wax or balm.
