Exquisite Gothic Detail
Crafted from 1.2 mm (18 gauge) mild steel, this armour is designed for roleplay and costuming. It features hallmarks of the Gothic style:
- Roped Edges: The edges around the neck, armholes, and the bottom hem feature decorative filing that resembles a twisted rope. This "roped" or "cabled" edge was a sign of quality in historical armour, strengthening the rim and deflecting blades.
- Riveted Decoration: The armour is adorned with numerous steel rivets, enhancing the martial appearance.
- Segmented Look: The breastplate is designed to mimic the multi-layered construction of historical originals, giving it visual depth and complexity.
The interior is blackened to provide resistance against rust and corrosion.
Fit and Adjustability
The breastplate and backplate are secured together using sturdy brown leather straps (2 mm thick) with antique-finish brass buckles. These adjustment points are located at the shoulders and the sides of the waist. This allows for a significant range of adjustment, ensuring a comfortable fit over your padding.

Care and Maintenance
* **Rust Prevention:** As this is mild steel, it is not rust-proof. Always wipe the armour dry after use and apply a protective oil (such as **Ballistol**, WD-40, or mineral oil) to prevent corrosion. * **Storage:** Store in a dry environment.
Sizing and Safety Note
* **Measurements:** The chest size starts at approx. 120 cm (47 inches). This accounts for the necessary padding worn underneath. Please measure yourself while wearing your gambeson or chainmail to ensure a proper fit. * **Usage:** While sturdy, this 18 gauge steel armour is intended for **LARP, stage combat, and costuming**. It is **not rated for full-contact medieval combat** (such as Buhurt), where thicker, hardened steel is required. * **Note:** The pauldrons (shoulder guards) and other accessories shown in some images are sold separately.
