Renaissance Halberd for LARP / PU Foam Halberd
Three Weapons in One
The design of this head faithfully mimics historical originals and offers three ways to dominate in combat:
- The Axe Blade: The wide 20 cm blade is ideal for powerful chopping attacks against less-armoured targets.
- The Thrusting Spike: A long, slender, and reinforced spike is used for thrusting and keeping enemies at a distance.
- The Beak: The sharp hook on the back was designed for piercing armour or, more fearsomely, for pulling a knight from his horse.
This combination makes the halberd an incredibly flexible weapon. The head is available in a steel or a darker graphite colour.
Build Your Own Weapon!
This head is perfect for all DIY enthusiasts and warriors who want to assemble their own weapon. Here are a few tips:
- Shaft: The ideal shaft diameter is 30–32 mm. It can be round or octagonal.
- Shaping: Before mounting the head, you must shape the end of the shaft according to the provided technical diagram. This ensures that the rubber hose reinforcing the tip fits perfectly onto the prepared peg. The narrowed portion for mounting is 8.5 cm long.
- Safety: The tip of the wooden shaft or fibreglass core must be thoroughly rounded to prevent it from damaging the foam head from the inside.
- Gluing: The entire surface of the shaft that is inserted into the socket must be coated with a high-quality adhesive. We recommend a strong, flexible construction glue like Pattex ONE FOR ALL.

A Piece of History in Your Hands
The halberd (from the German Halm – shaft, and Barte – axe) became the symbol of the infantry revolution in the 15th and 16th centuries. It was made famous primarily by the Swiss Reisläufer and their rivals, the German Landsknechte, who dominated European battlefields with this weapon in hand. While pikes formed the impenetrable hedgehog formations, halberdiers fought in looser ranks, protecting the colours and wreaking havoc on enemy lines. Their ability to adapt to any situation—from fighting cavalry to storming fortifications—made them the elite units of their time.
Safety First
Remember, a halberd has three potentially dangerous parts. Handle it with the utmost care and responsibility. Maintain a safe distance from your opponent and never thrust, chop, or hook at the head, neck, or other sensitive areas. Regularly check that the head is securely mounted on the shaft.
