Large Round Renaissance Buckle, Nickel-Plated Brass

Impressive Design and Sturdy Construction

This belt buckle immediately catches the eye with its size and intricate details. It is designed to be not only beautiful but also fully functional and durable.

  • Appearance: The buckle has the shape of a large ring, its surface decorated with detailed reliefs of stylized leaves and floral motifs in a Baroque style. A dark patina in the recesses (antique finish) brings out the shinier surface of the ornaments.
  • Construction: It is cast from solid brass, which is then nickel-plated for a silver look and increased durability. In the center is a fixed bar with a movable, robust pin for reliably securing the belt.

For Pirates, Musketeers, and Nobles

Due to its size and design, this buckle is exceptionally versatile for historical costumes from the Late Middle Ages to the Early Modern period (Age of Sail). It is perfectly suited as:

  • A bandolier buckle: Ideal for a cross-belt over the chest of a pirate, corsair, or musketeer.
  • A sword belt buckle: It can hold even wider and heavier belts carrying a rapier, side-sword, or saber.
  • A statement piece: As a striking accessory on the belt of a Renaissance nobleman, a wealthy merchant, or a fantasy character.

It is a perfect accessory for reenactment, LARP, theater, or historical costuming. You can use it to create your own belt or as a replacement part.

Easy to Attach to a Belt

Attaching this buckle to a belt is standard and simple.

  1. Fold the end of the leather belt around the central bar of the buckle.
  2. Firmly sew the belt or attach it with several rivets for maximum durability.
  3. Then, simply thread the other end of the belt through the buckle and secure it with the pin.

Important Notice: Ensure your belt is no wider than 6.5 cm (approx. 2.5 in). Using a belt that is too wide can lead to its damage and excessive wear on the buckle. Such damage is not considered a manufacturing defect.

Tip: Also Available in a Brass Finish

If you prefer a golden look, this buckle is also available in a pure brass version without the nickel plating (product code: 1416770301).

Care and Maintenance

Thanks to the nickel plating, the buckle is very resistant to corrosion. A soft cloth is usually sufficient for cleaning. Do not use abrasive polishes that could damage the nickel layer. The antique patina in the details is intentional and gives the buckle its historical appearance.
