Galea Junior, Child's Roman Helmet, Steel

This Roman soldier's helmet (also called galea or cassis) is a simplified and downsized reproduction of an Imperial Gallic helmet from the 1st / 2nd century AD. Typical features for this particular kind of helmet were (among others) the distinctive eyebrows, the frontal reinforcement and the decorative circular brass bosses/rosettes. True Roman troopers never left the camp without their helmets. Just like the armour (lorica), the shield (scutum) and the short sword (gladius), the helmet was an essential piece of any brave legionary's attire.
