Suit of Armour "Charles the Bold" | Stainless Steel, incl. Stand & Sword
Construction and Craftsmanship
The armour is designed as a complete "harness," protecting the knight from head to toe. It is made from 1.2 mm thick stainless steel sheet (18 gauge), giving it rigidity while maintaining an acceptable weight for handling.
- Helmet: Closed type (armet/close helm) with a hinged visor perforated for ventilation.
- Torso: Cuirass consisting of a breastplate and backplate, complemented by tassets protecting the thighs.
- Limbs: Fully articulated arm and leg harness allowing for movement. Includes gauntlets and sabatons (metal shoes).
- Accessories: The armour comes with a decorative sword and a sturdy wooden base, so it is immediately ready for display.
Historical Window: Charles the Bold
Charles the Bold (1433–1477) was one of the most ambitious rulers of his time. His armour represented the technological pinnacle of 15th-century armoury. The Burgundian style was characterized by elegance, often combining Italian rounded shapes with German precision and fluting. This replica pays homage to this very era, when a knight in full armour resembled a steel statue.

Maintenance and Care
A huge advantage of this armour is the material used. Stainless steel does not corrode like ordinary carbon steel, eliminating the need for regular oiling of the entire surface.
- To maintain the mirror shine, simply dust the armour regularly with a soft duster.
- Fingerprints or smudges can be easily removed with a microfibre cloth and stainless steel cleaner or glass cleaner.
- Treat the wooden base with wood polish.
Important Warning
Although the armour is wearable and articulated, it is primarily intended as a luxury decoration or costume for ceremonial occasions (parades, photoshoots). The 1.2 mm thick material is not constructed for contact fencing or historical battles (Buhurt), where dents could occur. The decorative sword is not intended for fencing.
