The handle (Tsuka) is covered in genuine black rayskin (Same) and tightly wrapped with a brown leather cord (Tsuka-Ito), ensuring a firm and secure grip even during the most demanding drills.

The decorative elements (Koshirae) carry deep symbolism:

• Tsuba (Guard): The iron guard is decorated with a delicate flying crane motif, which in Japanese culture symbolises longevity and loyalty.
• Fuchi and Kashira: The hilt fittings harmoniously complement the crane theme, giving the sword a unified artistic look.
• Menuki: The ornamental elements under the wrap are inspired by the shape of a samurai helmet (Kabuto).

Maintenance and Sword Care

After every training session or handling of the blade with bare hands, it is necessary to wipe the metal with a soft cloth and apply a thin layer of sword oil (e.g., camellia oil). We recommend not exposing the natural leather handle to extreme moisture. The Saya should be kept dry.

This sword IS SHARP. Unlike standard blunt Iaito swords, the Tori Live Iaito is a real weapon. Never use it for practicing partner techniques or for free fencing (sparring).
