For centuries, forged iron fittings were an integral part of furniture, doors, and chests. Their purpose was not only functional but also representative. It is made from a single piece of steel rod, approximately 36 cm long, which is hot-forged into its final shape. The uneven, hand-worked surface is not a flaw but a mark of authenticity and craftsmanship that distinguishes this product from mass-produced, machine-made items.
Installation in Your Home or Camp
Mounting the handle is straightforward and can be done with standard tools.
- Position the handle at the desired location on your door or chest.
- Use a pencil to mark the drilling spots through the holes in the leaf-shaped terminals.
- Drill pilot holes at the marked points. They should be slightly smaller than the diameter of the screws or bolts you use.
- Fasten the handle using appropriate hardware. For an authentic look, we recommend using black forged screws, round-head bolts, or nails with the ends clinched over on the reverse side.

Caring for the Handle
The handle is treated with oil for basic protection against corrosion. When used indoors, it requires almost no maintenance.
Protection Against Rust
If the handle is exposed to moisture (e.g., on an exterior door, in a bathroom or kitchen), we recommend periodically wiping the surface with an oil-dampened cloth, or treating it with beeswax or a clear lacquer for metal. This will significantly extend its lifespan and preserve its beautiful appearance.
