Long Wrought Iron Style Door Pull Handle, 76 cm

Versatile Use in Your Home

This universal iron pull handle is not limited to just front doors. Its majestic appearance and impressive length make it ideal for use on heavy wooden gates, wickets, barn doors, wine cellar doors, or garden sheds. It perfectly complements interiors decorated in a rustic, industrial, medieval, or fantasy style. You can also use it on large sliding doors or as an alternative to a classic lever handle where you want to achieve a truly authentic and robust impression.

A Touch of History

Massive iron handles and door fittings are a typical feature of medieval and Renaissance architecture. They were found on castle gates, church doors, townhouses, and country estates. Their production was the privilege of skilled blacksmiths, and their robustness was not just for show—they had to withstand rough handling and attempts at forced entry. The shape and decoration often reflected the wealth and status of the homeowner.

An Interesting Fact: The Blacksmith as Guardian of the Home

In the Middle Ages, the blacksmith's craft was considered almost magical. A smith who could create a tool, a weapon, or such elaborate hardware from a piece of raw iron was a highly respected person in society. The symbolism of the blacksmith was associated with strength, transformation, and protection. Having a product from a master smith on your door was therefore not only practical but also symbolic—it was meant to protect the dwelling from evil.

Installation and Care

How to Install the Handle

Installation is straightforward. As mounting hardware is not included, you are free to choose the screws or bolts that best suit your door's material (e.g., black wood screws, or wall plugs and metric bolts for masonry). Place the handle in the desired position, mark the hole locations on the mounting rosettes with a pencil. For hardwood, we recommend pre-drilling pilot holes with a smaller drill bit to prevent the wood from splitting. Then, fasten the handle securely.

How to Care for the Handle

Thanks to the high-quality oil-quenched finish, the handle is virtually maintenance-free and highly weather-resistant. To maintain its beauty, simply wipe it from time to time with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid using aggressive cleaners, wire brushes, or solvents, which could damage the protective layer.

Important Notice

Although this cast iron handle is made from solid material, it is not designed as a safety or support grab bar for bearing body weight (e.g., as a stair rail) or for hanging heavy loads. Use it exclusively for the purpose for which it was made—to open and close doors and gates.
