Rheinfelden Sword, 17th century

1x

Because the rapier was almost useless as a military weapon, the variant known as a sword rapier was developed. With the preferred method of parry to the outside, (as opposed to the inside, where a failure to parry successfully would almost always have life-threatening consequences) guards were made to cover the hand only on that side. This also allowed the sword to lie closer to the body, making it easier to carry and draw.  More information...

I received it ahead of schedule, after about 15 min to unpack and basic clean up (well protected and oiled) it feels great. Well balanced, packaging shows 4 pounds (i am assuming 1 pound due to packing). It feels more like my 2 pound training blade. Once things are safer I will be taking to to my local blade sharping pro.
