This Renaissance sword from the first half of the 17th century was mainly used in Italy and Spain. The rivet cap with a conical pommel forms a handle consisting of a decorative iron ring and a wooden handle covered with smooth leather. The hand is protected on the S-shaped guard by parrying bows at the ricasso, where the fighter's fingers grip the blade (the index finger rests over the guard), is also protected by two parrying bowls, decoratively filed to reduce the basket weight.
