How to Properly Fit and Lace the Bracers

Fitting the guards is straightforward. Place the bracer on your forearm so that the embossing faces outwards (or for archers, place the smooth side where the bowstring might slap) and the wider edge wraps around your arm closer to the elbow. Gradually thread the leather tie criss-cross through the prepared eyelets, similar to lacing a shoe, and tie it firmly at the end. This system allows you to smoothly regulate the tightness over a thin linen shirt or a thick padded gambeson.

Minor natural variations in colour and surface texture are characteristic properties of this noble material and make each piece a unique original. To ensure the leather maintains its strength, flexibility, and resistance to sweat and rain over the long term, it requires regular care. We recommend treating the outer surface of the bracers at least once a season with a high-quality leather balm based on beeswax. Never dry the leather near a direct heat source (radiator, hairdryer, the open flames of a campfire), otherwise it could harden and crack.

Crucial Safety Warnings

The bracers are made of high-quality thick leather; however, keep in mind that they are a clothing accessory and a guard designed for archery or light stage fencing. They do not replace plate armour under any circumstances. They are not intended for full-contact heavy combat (buhurt) against steel weapons, where the leather could not prevent fractures or severe severe bruising. Additionally, protect the leather lacing ties from unnecessary friction against sharp weapon edges.
