Tall Dark Brown Gothic Lace-Up Leather Boots Maxime
Historical Context And Practical Use In Fencing
During the 14th and early 15th centuries, similar tall lace-up footwear was very popular across many social classes, from skilled burghers and craftsmen to hardened soldiers. It provided excellent protection for the shin and ankle at work and on the muddy battlefield. Today, these historical leather boots represent an absolutely ideal and highly functional piece for re-enactment and full-contact Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA). To keep your step sure and stable, the footwear is equipped with a modern rubber sole. It is firmly attached to the leather using the so-called flexible stitching method. This guarantees safe movement on wet grass and slippery castle cobblestones, all without visibly disrupting the overall period look.

Leather Care And Safety Warnings
To ensure your boots last as long as possible, the leather requires regular care. The boots are treated with a beeswax balm during production. Regularly clean them of dirt and grease them with a high-quality leather balm or cobbler's oil. This softens the leather, waterproofs it, and enhances its beautiful, richer shade. Minor scuffs and knocked toes from fencing duels can be easily retouched with tinted shoe polish. If the footwear gets wet, stuff it with old newspaper and let it dry very slowly at room temperature. Under no circumstances should you dry the boots by an open campfire, on a hot radiator, or in direct sunlight! Rapid drying would cause the leather to irreversibly harden and crack.
Recommended Accessories
To complement these versatile Gothic boots, we strongly recommend purchasing period woollen chausses (leggings) and a historical linen shirt, providing a great and authentic foundation for any medieval or fantasy outfit.
