Tall Medieval Leather Lace-Up Boots with Decorative Cuff
A Combination of Period Style and Practicality
Tall boots were a popular choice among travellers, mercenaries, and the nobility between the 12th and 15th centuries. They protected the leg from bad weather, mud, and minor injuries. This model is particularly notable for its beautifully crafted cuff, which is highlighted by light contrasting stitching. The front lacing is not merely an aesthetic feature but a highly functional solution – it allows you to loosen or tighten the boot exactly according to the thickness of the hose or socks you are currently wearing. As standard, the boots are manufactured with a comfortable rounded toe, but upon your explicit request, they can be made with a more sharply elongated Gothic toe.

How to Properly Care for Leather Boots
For your boots to remain beautiful and functional for a long time, regular maintenance is essential. Straight from production, the leather is treated with a beeswax balm. Regularly rub a high-quality wax balm or leather oil into the leather. This nourishes the material, keeps it supple, and gives it better water resistance. Bear in mind that the leather will naturally darken slightly after the application of these products. Always allow wet or sweaty boots to dry very slowly at room temperature. Under no circumstances should you dry them near an open fire, on a hot radiator, or in direct sunlight, as the leather would irreparably stiffen and crack. Scuffs from battle can be easily masked with standard tinted shoe polish.
Safe Wear and Custom Production
The basic colours for this footwear are black, dark brown, and light brown (natural). If you select a different, unconventional shade in the configurator, it is created using a special covering lacquer paint. This layer may crack over time in stressed bending areas. For occasional festival use, this is adequate, but for rough battles and frequent wear, we strongly recommend naturally dyed leathers.
We supply the boots as standard with a sturdy rubber sole that ensures a safe step. A leather sole can be made upon request, however, we strongly warn that a historical leather sole is extremely slippery on wet grass, mud, or cobblestones and poses a serious risk of injury!
When selecting the custom-made sizing option, you can specify the height of the boot (up to a maximum of approx. 48 cm / 18.9 in). For comfortable walking, we do not recommend a height that exceeds 5 cm (2 in) below the kneecap. If you wear orthotic insoles, it is absolutely essential that you physically post them to us so we can fit them precisely into the boots.
We highly recommend you purchase period linen or woollen hose from our range to accompany these luxurious boots, into which you can easily lace the footwear.
