Ludlow arrowhead for wooden arrows
Complete your historically styled arrow with the forged Ludlow leaf-shaped arrowhead. Its broad blade and pronounced central ridge narrow into a neck and hollow socket, which receives the shaped end of a wooden shaft. The dark surface and visible working marks give it a restrained, crafted appearance. Use the head for a decorative arrow, historical presentation or collection of archery accessories. Careful fitting between the wood and socket matters during assembly. Before choosing a shaft, check the actual internal socket measurement: its diameter is not specified and cannot be inferred from the overall width of the head. Further product information ...

Forged Ludlow leaf-shaped arrowhead for wooden arrows
Leaf shape and socket attachment
The head has a pointed, roughly diamond-shaped blade with a raised longitudinal ridge. It reaches its greatest width before narrowing into the neck. The socket widens towards its open end to receive the wooden shaft. The blade has no barbs.
Unlike a tanged head, it does not require a metal tang to be driven into the wood. The shaped shaft fits inside the socket and is glued into place according to the supplied instructions.
Historical inspiration and the name Ludlow
Socketed, leaf-shaped arrowheads are represented in historical collections. Shape alone, however, is insufficient to assign this replica to a particular century or archaeological find. For a medieval-inspired presentation, combine it with equipment from your chosen period without presenting it as an exact copy of a documented original.
The name Ludlow refers to the English castle owned by Richard, Duke of York, in the 15th century. We chose it as a reference to the medieval military world, rather than a claim that this arrowhead was found there.

Fitting the arrowhead
Gradually shape the shaft end to match the inside of the socket. We recommend a suitable arrow shaft tapering tool. Test the fit without adhesive first: the shaft should sit straight without substantial play, but must not force the socket apart. Then use an adhesive suitable for joining wood and metal, following its instructions and full curing time.
Care and safety
Dry the head after handling. You can protect the metal surface with a thin layer of protective oil. Do not apply oil to bonding surfaces before assembly. Avoid damp storage, impacts against hard objects and forcing the head onto an oversized shaft.
The pointed metal head can cause serious injury. It is unsuitable for contact LARP or combat between people. Suitability for shooting is not expressly confirmed in the supplied information, so we offer it primarily for decorative and presentation use. Cover the point during transport and never aim the assembled arrow at anyone.
Recommended accessories
Suitable accessories include a wooden shaft, a tapering tool, appropriate adhesive and a protective point cover. For a portrayal of a 14th–15th-century archer, you can add feather fletching and choose a quiver appropriate to the period.
