Decorative Plate Armour "Duke of Burgundy" – Italian Style 1450

A Masterpiece for Your Interior

This armour is crafted with a focus on visual impact. It is forged from 1.2 mm thick steel sheet, giving it the necessary rigidity and a robust appearance without being unnecessarily heavy to handle. The surface is polished to a high sheen, exactly as befitted the armour of a nobleman or duke. The set includes:

  • Complete plate protection for the body (from helmet to sabatons).
  • A dignified hardwood stand that ensures stability.
  • An internal wooden framework (skeleton) on which the armour rests.
  • A decorative skirt that aesthetically covers the hip and groin area.

The armour is partially articulated, allowing for natural posing, for example with a hand resting on the pommel of a sword (the sword is not included, but we would be happy to recommend one for you).

Historical Context: The Italian School

The design of this armour is based on Italian originals from around 1450. This period is the golden age of "white armour" (alwite) – plates that were not worn under a surcoat but proudly displayed. Typical for the Italian (especially Milanese) school were rounded shapes, which were excellent at deflecting weapon strikes, and massive pauldrons. Although the Dukes of Burgundy ruled in the north, they often purchased their most luxurious armour from Italian masters. By owning such armour, you demonstrate not only taste but also respect for military history.

Important Usage Warning

Although the armour looks like it came straight from the battlefield, please bear in mind that it is a strictly decorative item. The 1.2 mm steel thickness and mild steel construction are not suitable for real fencing, reenactment combat, or buhurt. It serves for visual pleasure, not for personal protection.

Armour Care

To keep your "iron guardian" shining, simply follow a few rules. Occasionally wipe the dust off the armour with a dry cloth. Since it is made of steel, it is advisable to preserve the surface with oil (e.g., gun oil or WD-40) to prevent corrosion caused by humidity. Avoid placing it in damp environments.
