16th Century Renaissance Knight Armour Marto with Lion Shield and Lance – 200 cm
Authentic Craftsmanship and Rich Equipment
The armour is handcrafted from iron and brass plate with a thickness of 1.0–1.5 mm and a special surface patina that protects it from corrosion while providing a historical look. This model stands out for its unique combination of elements: a helmet with a Templar cross, a long tournament lance, and a large shield featuring the rampant lion symbol. The ensemble is completed by a red brocade skirt with gold fringe and a stable solid wood base. Due to the demanding nature of its manual creation, production is strictly limited to 30 sets per year.
Please be advised that this is a decorative item only. Although the suit features articulated (movable) parts, it is not intended for wearing or for use in contact sports like HEMA or Buhurt. It is ideal as a centerpiece for halls, studies, or private museums.

Historical Context: Armour as a Symbol of Power and Faith
In the 16th century, during the reign of Charles I (Emperor Charles V), plate armour transformed from functional protection into luxury ceremonial vestment. This particular model combines elements of tournament gear with a reference to Crusader traditions, symbolized by the helmet with the cross. The shield featuring the rampant lion was a traditional heraldic symbol of courage and royal authority. The inspiration for these replicas is the famous Royal Armoury in Madrid, which houses one of the richest armour collections in the world.
Care and Safety Instructions
The armour is shipped in several parts that are easily assembled upon arrival. To ensure it remains a stunning centerpiece for years to come, please follow these care guidelines:
- Regularly dust the surfaces with a soft, dry cloth.
- Periodically apply a thin layer of protective oil for steel to prevent oxidation from ambient humidity.
- Do not place the armour in damp environments or near direct heat sources to protect the wooden base and textiles.
- Never attempt to wear the suit or simulate combat—the structure is not designed for human movement, and there is a risk of injury or damage to the product.
To complete your historical collection, we recommend adding other Marto replicas (e.g., SKU 113.1).
