Viking Leather Belt Pouch Mors with Forged Iron Pin
Historical Context and Period Usage
Pouches, belt bags, and sporrans played an absolutely irreplaceable role in the Early Middle Ages, as ordinary clothing of the time completely lacked pockets. Vikings wore them proudly suspended from their belts. They were primarily used to store everyday items such as a fire striker, tinder, a whetstone, pieces of hacksilver, coins, or runes. The design of this specific pouch with its characteristic pin closure is based on archaeological finds in the Northern Denmark region. Furthermore, the braided pattern embossed along the edge of the flap is a typical artistic motif of the Viking Age.
Practical Application and Modern Use
Today, this LARP pouch will serve you excellently at historical events and wooden weapon battles, where it will reliably hide modern necessities such as keys, documents, or your smartphone without disrupting the period look of your costume. You simply thread the pouch onto your belt using the massive leather loop attached to the back. The soft leather sides act as a bellows, adjusting to the volume of the inserted items. To securely close the contents, a robust fastening system is used – you simply thread the hand-forged iron pin through the leather loop and the solid brass ring.

Proper Care for Leather and Forged Parts
Leather is a wonderful natural material that requires your care. Regularly treat the leather parts of the pouch with a high-quality beeswax leather balsam. This will ensure the leather retains its suppleness, does not crack, and becomes highly resistant to moisture and rain. The forged iron pin is subject to natural oxidation. Therefore, we recommend lightly wiping it with a conservation oil occasionally to prevent rust formation. Never dry the pouch directly near an open fire or on a radiator, as the leather could harden and be irreversibly destroyed.
Important Warnings
This product is precisely handcrafted from genuine leather. Minor variations in colour and surface texture are therefore a completely natural characteristic and proof of handiwork with a natural material. These slight visual imperfections do not diminish the utilitarian value of the product in any way. Please remember that the pouch is not intended for storing unwrapped food.
To bring your Northern European warrior costume to absolute perfection, we highly recommend acquiring a long Viking leather belt with a brass strap end and a historical scramasax knife to accompany this authentic pouch.
