
This bag comes from Scandinavia. It dates back to the 11th century. The bag is made of 2-3 mm thick smooth cowhide. It is worn suspended from the belt the width of which may be up to 3.5 cm. The belt is threaded under the upper part of the bag's flap. The flap is decorated on the edge with a period relief that is typical for the region in question. The Scandinavian bag Toste is closed with a leather strap that passes through the entire flap. The end of the closing strap is protected with a bone tip which is decorated according to preserved motifs.
