Stainless Steel Chainmail Shirt
Are you looking for the right balance between an authentic look and minimal maintenance? This chainmail shirt (hauberk) is made of stainless steel wire, which is a huge advantage for the modern fencer or LARPer. Unlike regular steel that requires constant oiling, or galvanized steel that can look too "cheaply" shiny, stainless steel offers a lasting luster and resistance to sweat and humidity. Weighing in at 11.5 kg (25 lbs), it gives you the real feel of armour weight without having to spend hours cleaning rust after every event. Further product information ...
Stainless Steel Chainmail Shirt | Size XLConstruction and Use
The shirt is woven in the classic "4-in-1" pattern. The 1.6 mm thick rings are butted (round rings, simply closed), not riveted. This makes the shirt affordable and easy to repair at home (two pairs of pliers are enough). This type of armour is ideal for:
- LARP and Costume Events: A great accessory for knights, mercenaries, or Vikings.
- Theatre and Film: Thanks to stainless steel, it always looks brand new.
- Fitness Training: Carrying 11.5 kg is excellent training for back muscles.
Size and Fit
The shirt comes in size XL. However, bear in mind that a gambeson (padded jacket) should be worn underneath. The stated chest circumference (122 cm / 48 inches) is the dimension of the shirt itself when stretched. For it to fit, your chest circumference including clothing and padding must be smaller (ideally up to approx. 110–115 cm) to allow room to breathe and move.

Important Safety Warning
Since the rings are butted and not riveted, they may open up under heavy strikes from steel weapons. We do not sell this shirt as certified protective equipment. Its use in full-contact combat (Buhurt, HMB) is completely unsuitable and dangerous. However, it is sufficient for LARP and stage combat. Use is entirely at your own risk.
