In combat, this tunic protects you from stitches, cuts, cuts and most flying arrows. Often such armor was worn under plate armor to protect crevices and more places that iron plates do not protect.
Chainmail is great protection against cuts - cutting metal is just not easy. Resistance to stab attacks depends on the shape and material of the mandrel. Late medieval swords were made with ever thinner tips and a square profile - the ideal shape for penetrating into / between the rings! Tying small rings tight and tight, like this tunic, reduces the effectiveness of such an attack.
In the Middle Ages, only the rich wore chain mail armor because it was very expensive. Today they are available at a very good price - for you too!
