Transport yourself to the times when Roman legions fearlessly marched across Europe. This long Roman spear, historically known as a Hasta, is an imposing weapon distinct from the more famous throwing javelin, the pilum. It was designed for close combat, thrusting from behind a shield wall, and stopping enemy cavalry. With a total length of 230 cm (over 7.5 feet) and a massive head, it commands respect at first glance. It is the ideal choice for re-enactors portraying Roman auxiliary troops (Auxilia), as well as for antiquity enthusiasts looking for a dominant decoration for their interior. Roman "Hasta" Spear with Split Shaft | 230 cm

Smart Solution for the Modern Legionary

The biggest problem with polearms is transporting them. This spear solves that elegantly: the hardwood shaft is split in the middle by a sturdy screw connection. within moments, you can turn a two-meter monster into two compact pieces that fit into any car. The connection is designed to be unobtrusive and strong under tension and compression.

The prominent feature of the weapon is the 50 cm long steel head. The blade itself measures 30 cm and transitions smoothly into a long socket. The blade features a reinforced central ridge for higher rigidity and a blunt edge (approx. 1.8 mm), which increases safety during handling.

Historical Context: Hasta vs. Pilum

While the pilum was designed to bend upon impact after being thrown to disable enemy shields, the hasta was a classic thrusting spear meant to stay intact. It was used primarily by the Triarii (veterans in the last line of the legion during the Republic era) and later by auxiliary cohorts. It was the weapon that held the formation and created an impenetrable wall of spikes.

Important Notice: Although the materials and design meet the standards for stage combat, the screw connection represents a structural limit. The manufacturer does not provide a warranty against damage in combat; therefore, we sell this item as a decorative object. We strongly warn against prying (lateral loading of the shaft), which could strip the threads. The spear is excellent for formation drills, handling, costume wear, or display, but it is not intended for full-contact heavy combat.
