The History of the Prussian Infantry Saber
This replica is based on the Prussian Infantry Saber Model 1715 (Infanteriesäbel M1715), which was introduced into service during the reign of Frederick William I. For the common infantryman, who was primarily armed with a musket and bayonet, the saber was not the main combat weapon. Instead, it served as a personal defense sidearm in emergencies, a tool for camp chores (like chopping branches), and, most importantly, as a symbol of status and rank, especially for Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs). NCOs famously used it to maintain discipline and formation in the battle line. Its sturdy construction was designed to withstand the harsh conditions of a military campaign.
A Fascinating Piece of History
Although we often associate sabers with cavalry, the infantry of Frederick the Great was renowned for its iron discipline, which was enforced with the help of these NCOs' hangers. The swift and precise battlefield maneuvers that brought victory to the Prussian army would have been nearly impossible without the strict supervision and immediate correction made possible by these weapons.

Caring for Your New Saber
The blade is made of high-carbon steel, which can rust if exposed to moisture. To keep your saber in pristine condition, follow these simple guidelines:
- Wipe the blade with a dry cloth after every use.
- Regularly apply a thin coat of oil (such as mineral oil, gun oil, or WD-40) to conserve the blade, at least once a month.
- The brass parts will develop a natural patina over time. If you prefer a bright shine, you can polish them with a suitable brass cleaner.
- For long-term storage, we advise against keeping the saber in its leather scabbard, as leather can absorb moisture and cause the blade to rust.
Safety First
Remember, this is a replica of a real historical weapon, not a toy. Although it has a thick, unsharpened edge, its point is sharp, and careless handling can cause injury. Always ensure you have plenty of space around you when handling it, and keep the weapon out of the reach of children.
Important Notice
Although the manufacturer declares this saber as "battle-ready" or "suitable for fencing," they do not provide a warranty for any damage to the blade or hilt resulting from its practical use. For this reason, we STRONGLY ADVISE AGAINST its use in any form of contact fencing, mock combat, or practical training. It is intended primarily as a costume accessory and a collector's item.
