Construction and Design
This sword is not merely a wall decoration but a fully functional weapon. The blade is forged from 65Mn spring steel and is supplied sharpened, making it an ideal tool for cutting tests (tameshigiri) on soft targets. The dominant feature of the blade is the triple fullers running down its centre, significantly lightening the massive profile without compromising strength.
The grip is designed for two-handed use. The wooden core is covered with high-quality brown leather and reinforced with wire wrapping near the pommel, ensuring a secure and firm grip. The crossguard is straight, decorated with geometric engravings, and the wheel pommel (Type J or I) features a textured brass insert, adding a touch of luxury to the weapon.

Historical Context
The inspiration for this sword comes from the large War Swords of the 14th and 15th centuries. The Oakeshott Type XX blade is characterized by parallel edges and multiple fullers, a response by armourers to the need for light yet long blades capable of reaching horsemen or fighting in the melee of a battlefield. The combination with the Type XVIIIb hilt, which is more typical of the mid-15th century, creates an interesting hybrid that could have belonged to a wealthy nobleman or a mercenary commander in the late Middle Ages.
Care and Maintenance
To ensure this sword serves you for generations, it requires regular care. The steel is not stainless, so you must clean the blade after every touch or use and preserve it with oil (e.g., WD40, gun oil) or microcrystalline wax. Treat the leather parts with appropriate leather care products to prevent cracking. Store the sword in a dry place and ideally outside of the scabbard to prevent moisture accumulation on the blade.
