Decorative Dragon Samurai Sword Set – Katana and Wakizashi with Wooden Stand
Details and Craftsmanship of the Swords
The swords are created with an emphasis on visual effect. The blades of both swords are made from Carbon Steel. The handle (Tsuka) is covered with a traditional black cotton wrap (Tsuka-Ito) over imitation ray skin, ensuring an authentic look and a comfortable feel in the hand. The most distinctive feature is the black wooden scabbards, which are richly decorated with red and white painted dragons in the Japanese style. The details on the scabbards give the entire set a dramatic and artistic flair. Both swords are exclusively decorative and are not intended for cutting, fencing, or practical use.
Set Includes
- Katana: The longer sword with a 67 cm (26.4 in) blade, the symbol of the samurai's soul.
- Wakizashi: The shorter sword with a 48 cm (18.9 in) blade, carried alongside the katana as a secondary weapon.
- Wooden Stand: A black stand (Tanto-Dai) for the dignified and safe display of both swords.

A Brief Note on Katana and Wakizashi
The Katana and Wakizashi together formed the Daishō (literally "large and small"), which was the samurai's exclusive symbol of status. The Katana was the primary offensive sword, while the Wakizashi served as a backup weapon and for performing the ritual suicide Seppuku. Traditionally, Daishō swords were displayed on the stand with the Katana's handle pointing to the left (for easy drawing by the host) and the Wakizashi pointing to the right, and they were oriented with the edge facing upwards—which was the position for maintenance and protection against unexpected use. This set honours this rich tradition.
Safety and Care for the Set
Warning: These are decorative items. The swords are not sharpened and are not intended for fencing, cutting, or martial arts. They are purely for display.
- Care: Wipe the swords with a dry cloth and protect them from moisture to prevent corrosion or damage to the wooden scabbard and painting.
- Display: For maximum safety, place the swords on the stand in a stable and secure location, out of reach of children.
