Damascus steel, renowned for its mesmerising, water-like patterns, has its roots deep in the ancient Middle East, where it was highly prized for its exceptional toughness and edge retention. The blade of this knife is made by forge-welding and folding two distinct types of high-carbon steel (1075 and 4340), resulting in an impressive 176 layers. Structurally, it is a robust "full-tang" knife, meaning the steel core runs the entire length and width of the handle, guaranteeing immense structural strength. The handle itself is a showcase of working with natural materials. Dark walnut wood at both ends contrasts beautifully with the pale, polished cow bone in the centre. The transitions are highlighted by thin red spacers. Everything is securely riveted together with brass and steel pins, with the central rivet fashioned into a stunning metallic mosaic pin. The knife comes complete with a sturdy dark brown leather sheath, beautifully decorated with a traditional floral tooling motif and finished with contrasting white stitching.

For your own safety, we must strongly warn you: this knife is under no circumstances intended for historical contact fencing, HEMA training, or any form of person-to-person combat. It serves strictly as a tool or a decorative costume accessory (provided it remains safely sheathed). Never use the knife as a pry bar, a stone chisel, or a screwdriver. Subjecting the blade to such lateral stress could cause the tip or the edge to chip or break, potentially causing severe injury.

Care and Maintenance of High-Carbon Steel

High-carbon steel is not stainless and requires your attention to prevent corrosion. After every use outdoors (especially after cutting moist food or being exposed to rain), the blade must be carefully washed, completely dried, and then coated with a fine layer of oil. Linseed oil, clove oil, or a dedicated gun oil will serve this purpose perfectly. Never soak the bone and wood handle in water, and absolutely never put the knife in a dishwasher! We recommend occasionally treating the leather sheath with a high-quality beeswax leather balm to prevent the leather from drying out and cracking.
