Beauty in the Detail
Hardware on a diamond-shaped base was historically popular not just for its appearance. Placing a square "on point" created four distinct corners that visually broadened the hardware's footprint, making it a feature on the underlying wood. This was typical in Gothic and Renaissance woodworking.
The "X" motif carved into the plate is also an interesting historical detail. Such simple geometric engravings were an easy way for a blacksmith to add character to a piece without complex tools. Sometimes, these marks could even serve as a subtle signature of the craftsman.
Installation and Care
Installation is simple. You attach each pull to the desired surface with two screws through the pre-drilled holes. For hardwoods, we recommend drilling small pilot holes to prevent splitting the wood.
Care for these pulls is minimal, thanks to the high-quality finish. A wipe with a dry or slightly damp cloth is all that's needed for cleaning. While designed for a long life, they should not be used for purposes for which they are not intended, such as for anchoring or lifting heavy loads.
