Brown Gothic Leather Lace-Up Boots with Rugged Soles
Historical Inspiration and Design
Although this footwear is adapted to modern demands for movement in rough terrain, its appearance draws upon the Gothic fashion of the 14th and 15th centuries. The slightly elongated and upturned toe refers to the then-popular poulaines (crakows), but in a more moderate form that hinders neither natural walking nor combat. Front lacing using leather laces allowed for perfect foot fixation even in the Middle Ages. The distinct texture (pebbled grain) of the cowhide gives the boots a rugged, rustic appearance, ideal for characters spending most of their time travelling or in field camps.
Practical Use for LARP and Outdoors
Historical leather soles are often very treacherous and slippery at modern events, on wet grass, or castle cobblestones. Therefore, these boots are equipped with a modern textured rubber sole that provides excellent traction and absorbs shocks. They are perfect for historical fencing (HEMA), foam weapon combat, and long marches. To achieve maximum comfort, we highly recommend inserting modern anatomical insoles into the boots. If you wear special orthopaedic insoles and opt for custom-made footwear, it is essential to send us these insoles in advance. The footwear is then crafted so that the insoles fit perfectly inside, ensuring a tailored fit.
Proper Care for Leather Footwear
For these sturdy lace-up boots to serve you for many seasons, regular maintenance is crucial. From the workshop, the leather is treated with a high-quality beeswax balm. Regularly use leather dubbin, balm, or oil, which reliably softens the material and waterproofs it against morning dew and rain. Bear in mind that applying these products usually causes the leather to darken slightly. Minor scuffs can be easily hidden by using standard brown shoe polish. Strictly avoid drying wet boots near direct heat sources, such as radiators, stoves, or open fires. The leather would over-dry, crack, and be irreparably ruined.

Recommended Accessories for Your Costume
With these high boots, we strongly recommend purchasing linen or woollen hose and period leg wraps (wintegas), which will not only complete your medieval look but also prevent debris from falling inside the shoes during forest battles.
