Medieval Ankle Boots, Brown, 12th-15th Century

Step into History on the Right Foot

These medieval shoes are not just an accessory, but the foundation of your historical garment. They are made from genuine full-grain leather, known for its strength and for developing a beautiful patina through wear and proper care. The design is simple yet functional, just as was common in the Middle Ages. The boots are ankle-high and feature the characteristic side lacing with leather thongs, which allows for a custom fit to your foot and ensures a secure hold.

Inspired by London Finds

The cut of these boots is loosely inspired by archaeological footwear finds from London, dated to the period between the 12th and 15th centuries. This type of ankle boot with side lacing was very popular and widespread throughout Europe during the High and Late Middle Ages. They were practical and durable shoes worn by various social classes, from townsfolk to soldiers. The simple leather sole (with no modern heel) corresponds to historical patterns and provides an authentic walking feel at historical events.

How to Care for Your Boots

To ensure your leather boots serve you for as long as possible and look great:

  • We strongly recommend waterproofing them with a quality leather care product before first use to protect them from moisture and dirt.
  • After each event, clean them of coarse dirt (mud, dust) with a soft brush or a damp cloth.
  • Never dry the boots near a direct heat source (radiator, fireplace, direct sunlight). This could cause the leather to crack. Let them air dry at room temperature.
  • To speed up drying, you can stuff them with newspaper, which will absorb the moisture.
  • Regularly treat the leather with a balm or grease. This will keep it supple, durable, and extend its lifespan.
  • Avoid machine washing or prolonged soaking.
