In Samurai culture, the colour "Shiro" (Japanese for white) symbolises not only absolute purity and holiness but also mourning, death, and a warrior's iron resolve to fight to the very end. The hand-forged 1045 carbon steel blade features an artificial temper line (hamon), giving the weapon a highly authentic appearance. Thanks to the traditional construction methods that completely avoid synthetic materials, you are holding a true work of art that will become the crown jewel of your collection or a reliable companion during martial arts practice. Sharp Samurai Short Sword Wakizashi Shiro in White

Historical Context and Traditional Craftsmanship

The wakizashi traditionally served as the samurai's sidearm and, together with the long katana, formed the inseparable pair known as the daisho. It was worn thrust through the belt (obi) and was not removed by the warrior even when entering someone else's home. This specific model is constructed with a strong emphasis on historical accuracy. The Shinogi-Zukuri style blade is equipped with a longitudinal groove (Bo-Hi), which not only reduces the weapon's weight but also produces a characteristic swooshing sound during a correctly executed cut. The full tang blade is securely fastened in the handle (tsuka) by two bamboo pegs (mekugi). All decorative fittings, namely the guard (tsuba), the handle collar (fuchi), the ornaments under the wrap (menuki), and the pommel cap (kashira), are crafted from metal. The blade collar (habaki) and washers (seppa) are made of brass. Beneath the tightly bound white cotton wrap in the Hineri Maki style lies a genuine ray skin (samegawa) inlay.

Crucial Safety Warnings

This weapon is equipped with a razor-sharp blade. We must strongly warn you that this is a dangerous instrument, and careless handling carries a severe risk of heavy or even fatal injury. The use of this sword is entirely at your own risk. The 1045 carbon steel is a basic forging steel, meaning the sword is primarily intended as a high-end display piece or for very light cutting practice (tameshigiri) on soft targets like tatami omote mats. Under no circumstances is the weapon designed for contact fencing (blade-on-blade combat), heavy cutting tests on solid wood or bamboo, or any kind of forceful combat. Doing so could result in irreversible damage to the blade or the dangerous loosening of the hilt.

Care for Carbon Steel and White Details

To ensure your wakizashi remains in pristine condition for a long time, regular maintenance is absolutely necessary. The carbon steel blade is susceptible to rust, so after every withdrawal from the scabbard (especially if touched with bare hands), it must be carefully wiped clean and conserved with a thin layer of special oil (ideally traditional clove/choji oil). Protect the high-gloss white lacquered scabbard (saya) from impacts and scratches. The white cotton handle wrap is naturally prone to dirt, so we recommend always handling the weapon with clean hands.
