Miniature Templar Knight Sword, "Sigillum Militum" Letter Opener

The Seal of the Soldiers of Christ

This sword is literally charged with Templar symbolism, precisely crafted in colored enamel on a metal (Zamak) hilt.

  • The Blade: The durable blade of 440 stainless steel (hardness 47-51 HRC) is adorned near the hilt with an engraving of a Templar knight figure.
  • The Hilt: The golden base of the hilt is combined with black, white, and red enamel.
    • The Guard: The slightly down-curved guard is decorated with black enamel and golden figures. In the center, it bears a shield with the order's most famous symbol: two knights riding a single horse, which represented their original vow of poverty.
    • The Grip: The black grip is adorned with a central white band featuring a golden Templar cross (pattée).
    • The Pommel: The large wheel pommel is pierced to form a cross. The red enameled background bears a golden inscription of the official Latin name of the order's seal: "SIGILLUM MILITUM XPISTI" (Seal of the Soldiers of Christ).

Open Your Mail with the Grand Master's Blessing

Opening letters becomes a ritual with this sword. It is the perfect and functional gift for true connoisseurs and admirers of Templar history. Its symbolic depth and artistic craftsmanship make it an exclusive collector's item that will adorn any desk. For the best presentation, we recommend placing it on one of our stands.

The Symbolism of the Templar Sword

This sword is a chronicle in metal. The two knights on a horse symbolize the original vow of poverty and brotherhood. The red cross on a white field was their banner and signified a willingness to die for their faith. The Latin inscription on the pommel is the text from their official seal, used by the Grand Masters of the order. To own this sword is like holding a key to their fascinating world.

Typological Classification

With its overall shape – a straight blade, slightly curved guard, and wheel pommel – the sword belongs to the classic knightly swords of the High Middle Ages. According to the Oakeshott typology, it can be classified as a Type XII, which was widespread during the height of the Templars' power (12th and 13th centuries).

Care and Safe Use

The stainless steel blade requires no special care. We recommend cleaning the hilt with enameled details only with a dry, soft cloth to avoid damaging the colors.

Important Notice: This is a decorative replica and a letter opener, not a weapon. Although it has a sharp point, it is not intended for combat, cutting, or any other practical use other than opening mail. Handle it responsibly and keep it out of the reach of children.
