Detailed Weapon Description
The Blade
The long, approximately 30 cm (11.8 in) hand-forged blade is made from tough carbon steel. It features a diamond cross-section, which gives it exceptional rigidity and stiffness, crucial for effective thrusting. The blade tapers evenly to a sharp point, designed to penetrate the gaps in plate armour. The edges of the blade are blunted to about 2mm thick, making it suitable for contact reenactment.
The Hilt and Rondels
The hilt is crafted from hardwood and is dominated by two large steel discs – the rondels – which give the dagger its name. The lower rondel served as the guard, protecting the hand, while the upper rondel (pommel) allowed the user to brace their palm for a powerful thrust. This design effectively turned the wielder's arm and the dagger into a single, solid unit.
The Scabbard
Included with the dagger is a custom-made scabbard of genuine cowhide leather. It is carefully stitched and features a belt loop, allowing it to be comfortably worn on a belt up to 52 mm (approx. 2 inches) wide.

The Merciful Stroke
In the chaos of a medieval battle, it was common for severely wounded knights to be left incapacitated on the field, unable to move in their heavy armour. This is where the rondel dagger played a crucial role. It was used by the victors to deliver the "coup de grâce" (stroke of mercy) – a quick and relatively merciful end to an opponent's life by thrusting into vulnerable spots like the visor slits of a helmet, the armpits, or other gaps in the armour.

How to Care for Your Dagger
The carbon steel blade requires regular maintenance. Keep it dry, and after each use, wipe it down and apply a light coat of preservative oil. Treat the leather scabbard occasionally with a leather care product to keep it supple.
