Ornate Medieval Leather Falchion Scabbard With Integrated Sword Belt
The Weapon of Infantry and Knights
The falchion was an incredibly popular edged weapon from the 13th to the 16th century. Its single-edged blade often widened towards the tip, giving it a devastating chopping power similar to an axe. It was commonly used by tough infantrymen, but it very quickly became popular with the nobility and knights as well. Crafting a functional scabbard for a falchion is a masterly challenge. Because of the widening blade, the mouth of the scabbard must be wide enough to allow the weapon to be drawn at all. The complex lacing of the belt directly onto the body of the scabbard, as seen on this model, was typical for wearing swords in the 13th and 14th centuries, when the weight of the weapon rested firmly and stably on the warrior's hips.
Individual Custom Manufacturing
To ensure your falchion fits perfectly in the scabbard, this scabbard is always custom-made individually. If you order it together with a falchion from our range, it will automatically be made exactly to measure for that specific weapon. If you are ordering the scabbard separately for your existing weapon, it is absolutely essential that you send us the exact dimensions of your blade in the order notes, ideally accompanied by an outline of the blade marking the width and thickness at key points. This is the only way we can guarantee that the weapon can be drawn and sheathed smoothly.

Care and Safe Handling
Genuine cowhide requires regular care to maintain its flexibility, strength, and long lifespan. We recommend treating the scabbard and straps thoroughly with a leather balm containing beeswax or lanolin at least twice a year. Never dry the leather near a direct heat source, such as an open fire or radiator, otherwise it could irreversibly harden and crack. When drawing and sheathing a falchion with a sharp blade, exercise maximum caution to avoid cutting through the inner wall of the leather and causing injury. The scabbard is intended exclusively for the safe transport and carrying of the weapon.
To accompany this magnificent scabbard, we highly recommend purchasing a high-quality padded gambeson and a leather belt pouch from our range, which will bring your medieval warrior look to absolute perfection.
