Monumental Decorative Fantasy Greatsword Beatus of Liébana - Apocalypse Riders
Historical and Mythical Context
The design of this sword is deeply inspired by the dark visions of the biblical Apocalypse. We have named this unique piece in honour of the Asturian monk Beatus of Liébana. This 8th-century Spanish scholar became famous for his Commentary on the Apocalypse, whose richly illuminated copies fundamentally shaped European art. Although this product is a modern fantasy weapon, the sword is made in his honour and reflects the overwhelming details with which medieval artists depicted the approaching end of the world. Typologically, the blade draws inspiration from Renaissance two-handed swords (Zweihänders), whose typical wavy or serrated ricasso near the crossguard historically served to parry and catch enemy blades.
Safe Handling and Maintenance Guidelines
For safety reasons, this is a purely decorative product unsuitable for practical use. The construction, combining a cast Zamak (zinc alloy) hilt and a hardened stainless steel blade, is not designed for any physical contact. The weapon is not intended for contact fencing, HEMA, man-to-man combat, or cutting tests. Additionally, the blade features a relatively thin edge (approx. 0.5 mm / 0.02 inches). Striking anything with this sword risks shattering the blade or the hilt, which could cause serious or even fatal injuries to you or those around you.
Thanks to the use of AISI 440 stainless steel, the blade is almost maintenance-free. After handling, simply wipe it with a dry microfibre cloth to remove fingerprints. For the complex, richly decorated reliefs of the silver-plated and gold-plated hilt, we recommend using a soft cosmetic or painter's brush, which will easily sweep dust from even the deepest crevices. Never use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners on this item.
