High Medieval Leather Boots With Side Buckles Vagant
Historical Context And Practical Use
The word vagant (from the Latin vagari – to wander) referred to wandering clerics, students, and scholars in the Middle Ages who had no permanent residence and travelled from university to university. High-quality, tall footwear was an absolute necessity for these long journeys on foot. This model, featuring a rounded toe and practical buckles, is the ideal choice for portraying wandering bards, rangers, mercenaries, and travellers. These historical leather boots are perfect for LARP, re-enactment, and Cosplay. To ensure safe movement on modern surfaces such as wet grass or cobblestones, the boot is equipped with a discreet but effective styropor rubber outsole and a low heel.

Sizes And Custom Tailoring
We offer these high leather boots in standard EU sizes. However, if the chart sizes don't fit you or you have specific calf width requirements, we are happy to provide custom tailoring. Simply select the custom option when purchasing and fill out our detailed measurement chart once your order is complete. If you wear orthopaedic insoles, it is absolutely essential that you send them to us in advance. Our cobbler will integrate them directly into the footbed so the boot fits perfectly without pinching the instep.
Leather Care And Important Warnings
Natural leather requires regular care to maintain its properties. We recommend treating the boots with a high-quality leather balm containing beeswax or a special leather oil. This softens the leather, waterproofs it, and enhances its naturally dark shade. Minor surface scratches or scuffed toes can be easily covered with standard shoe polish in a matching tone. If the boots get wet, stuff them with old newspaper and let them dry very slowly at room temperature. Never dry the footwear on a radiator, near a campfire, or in harsh, direct sunlight! The rapid loss of moisture would cause the leather to harden, crack, and become irreparably damaged.
Recommended Accessories
To prevent blisters and ensure maximum thermal comfort during long marches, we recommend purchasing thick historical wool socks to go with these boots, perfectly complementing your medieval or fantasy outfit.
