Decorated Leather Viking Explorer Boots With Horn Buttons
Historical Context And Proper Footwear Adjustment
The Early Middle Ages in Scandinavia required footwear that could withstand mud, snow, and rocky terrain. This model of mid-calf Viking boots combines several historical elements. The split cuff with a laced joint and the fastening on leather straps with original horn buttons represent a highly flexible system. If you find the boot too tight or loose across the instep or shin after putting it on, it can easily be fixed. Simply loosen the knots on the straps leading to the buttons (using an awl or nail) and individually shorten or lengthen them. The thick footbed made of rolled cowhide is glued with a layer of durable styropor rubber for your comfort and safety. This gives you a sure step even on slippery grass.

Leather Care And Safety Warnings
The leather used for the upper is impregnated from the factory with palm oil, animal fat, and beeswax. To maintain its durability, you must regularly treat it with a high-quality leather balm. With any opaque colour finishes (other than black, dark brown, and natural), keep in mind that under high stress, minor cracks may form over time, which is a natural characteristic of finished leather. If the footwear gets wet at an event, stuff it with old newspaper and let it dry very slowly at room temperature. Never dry the boots on a radiator, near a blazing fire, or in harsh direct sunlight! Rapid drying would irreversibly damage the leather, causing it to harden and crack.
Recommended Accessories
To achieve an absolutely perfect period look, we highly recommend purchasing medieval linen trousers and traditional woollen leg wraps (puttees) to go with these boots. The puttees will reinforce your calf and complete the authentic silhouette of a Viking warrior.
