Unique Materials and Construction
The heart of the knife is a blade formed by 71 layers of stainless Damascus steel. This layered structure creates a unique pattern on the metal that is distinct for every single piece. To ensure the knife is not only beautiful but also devilishly sharp, its cutting core is made of modern stainless 8Cr13MoV steel. A visual treat is the bolster (front part of the handle) made of Damascus steel, which seamlessly transitions from the blade.
The handle scales are made of black buffalo horn. Unlike smooth handles, this model features distinct transverse grooves. This texturing serves not only an aesthetic function but, more importantly, ensures an absolutely secure and firm grip even with sweaty palms. Safety during use is guaranteed by the proven Lockback mechanism on the spine.
Buffalo Horn – A Warrior's Material
Historically, horn was prized for its toughness and ability to withstand impact. It was used to make bows, scabbards, and weapon handles. It is a "living" material that is warm to the touch and develops a beautiful patina over time. Combined with Damascus steel, this knife brings together two traditional craftsmanship elements.
Care and Maintenance
Natural materials require a little attention:
- Horn Care: Buffalo horn can dry out over time. Every few months, rub the scales with a drop of oil (linseed, olive, or mineral oil) to keep them shiny and prevent cracking.
- Cleaning: Only wipe the knife with a damp cloth and dry immediately. Never wash it in a dishwasher, as the horn could be irreversibly damaged.
- Sharpening: 8Cr13MoV steel is easy to sharpen. Use a quality whetstone or ceramic rod.
