A Tool for Strong Arms

The axe head is forged from high carbon steel and features a characteristic shape based on functional designs of that era. The surface of the head is intentionally left with a rough, "hammered" finish with pitting, giving the weapon a historical patina. The edge has a thickness of approx. 1 mm, which is the standard for safe stage combat (blunt edge). Due to its weight, the axe carries immense momentum. In fencing, this requires not only strength but, above all, responsibility and the ability to stop a blow in time to avoid injuring your opponent.

Materials and Craftsmanship

The haft (handle) is made of solid wood with a darker finish that complements the dark steel of the head. The length of the handle allows for a two-handed grip if needed, providing greater force or better control of the weapon. The axe is assembled in a traditional manner without the use of modern plastics or alloys.

Care for Carbon Steel and Wood

Since the head is made of high carbon steel, it is susceptible to rust. After every use (or touch with bare hands), wipe the metal parts and oil them (e.g., with WD-40 or gun oil). The wooden haft deserves occasional treatment with linseed oil to prevent drying and cracking. Important Warning: Although it looks robust, this is a weapon replica. It is not hardened or constructed as a tool for splitting logs. Using it for wood chopping would lead to rapid damage to the edge and loosening of the head.
