The bearded axe or skeggøx (from the Old Norse skegg for beard and øx for axe) enjoyed great popularity from the 6th. c. until the end of the Viking Age – both as a tool and as a weapon. Compared to the sword, it was not only easier, but also much cheaper to make and therefore the most prevalent weapon of the common people in early medieval Scandinavia. More information...

Viking Bearded Axe, Hand-Forged
The distinctive blade of the axe we offer here is mounted on an ash wood shaft. It is hand-forged from high carbon steel, has a blunt edge, and was left in its unpolished state on purpose, as the oxide scale layer lends a rustic, authentic character to the Viking axe.
This Viking bearded axe is designed as a collector's or decoration / display piece, and, besides its quality as a collectible, is perfectly suited as a prop, e.g. to complete your costume. Now nothing stands in the way of your transformation into a proud warrior!

The steel used here is not rust-proof and might show slight surface tarnishing in places. We recommend you to maintain axes on a regular basis, for example using WD40 or Ballistol Universal Oil, which is ideally suited for steel care.
