Flintlock Pistol Replica Hadley 1760 London

Mechanism and Handling

Even though you cannot fire this pistol, you won't miss out on the handling experience. The replica features a movable flintlock mechanism. You can cock the hammer back, and upon pulling the trigger, you will hear the characteristic click as the hammer strikes the frizzen. This mechanism is ideal for theatre performances, film productions, or LARP, where shooting needs to be simulated safely without pyrotechnics. Please note that the weapon is made of zinc alloy and is designed in such a way that it cannot be modified to fire.

Window into History: The Flintlock

This type of weapon represents the golden age of flintlock pistols. The system, which appeared as early as the beginning of the 16th century, replaced the older matchlock and wheellock mechanisms. The principle was ingeniously simple: a piece of flint was clamped in the jaws of the cock. Upon pulling the trigger, the released spring propelled the cock forward, striking a steel plate (frizzen) to create sparks. These sparks fell into the priming pan with gunpowder, igniting the main charge in the barrel and causing the discharge. Thanks to this invention, the interval between shots was reduced to about one minute, a revolutionary speed for its time.

Care and Maintenance

This replica is made of wood and metal alloy (zinc). To keep it looking great for a long time, keep it dry. You can occasionally wipe the metal parts with a cloth and a drop of preservative oil to maintain the finish. However, avoid excessive "dry firing". Zinc alloy is more brittle than steel, and the repeated impact of the hammer could eventually lead to material fatigue or breakage of the mechanism.
