From the perspective of historical martial arts and real combat, smoothly drawing a long sword from the back is a massive myth popularized by modern films, video games, and fantasy literature. The human arm is simply not long enough to draw a standard longsword from a solid back scabbard. Historically, huge two-handed swords were sometimes carried on the back, but exclusively for transport on the march. However, in the world of LARP and cosplay, the double back scabbard is an absolute icon! Proper Wearing and Regular Care

This complex suspension system is put on using two shoulder straps, while the lower belt, which fastens at the waist, holds the entire construction firmly against the body and prevents it from bouncing. The whole set is made exactly to measure. After completing your order, we will ask you to fill in the dimensions of your weapons so that both scabbards hug the blades perfectly. Each scabbard is formed from a single thick piece of leather, stylishly laced together in the centre with a leather cord. To prevent the up to 3.5 mm (0.14 in) thick leather from hardening and to protect it from the rain, regularly treat it with a high-quality beeswax leather balm. Occasionally rub the iron hardware lightly with oil to prevent rust.

Safety and Important Warnings for Warriors

We strongly recommend choosing shorter swords for this scabbard. Drawing long blades from the back will be very difficult, if not impossible. If you are using sharp blades, there is a real risk that a careless blind draw could slice through the leather and seriously injure you. Carrying sharp weapons on your back is entirely at your own risk. Never insert wet or muddy weapons into the scabbards, as the moisture inside the leather would quickly cause corrosion. Never dry leather products near an open flame or on a hot radiator, as the leather will irreversibly crack and deform.
