Each pauldron is built on a sturdy leather base, with approximately 12 to 15 rectangular leather plates secured by brass rivets. This layered construction effectively distributes impacts and gives the armour its iconic "plated" look. The shoulders attach to the torso using stylish lacing at the top and under the arm, allowing you to adjust them perfectly to your frame or attach them seamlessly to other armour pieces. Please note that these are supplied separately as a pair and are not a standard part of any complete armour set.

History and Inspiration

The brigandine style was immensely popular during the High and Late Middle Ages. Its principle—small protective segments riveted onto a backing material—offered the wearer far more natural movement than a solid steel breastplate. Brigandine accessories were a favourite choice for light infantry and archers who needed to stay quick and agile. The name "Bohemond" evokes the famous leaders of the Crusades, emphasizing the rugged and martial character of this gear.

For maximum comfort and to prevent chafing, we strongly recommend wearing a padded gambeson underneath. As this is a handcrafted product made from natural materials, slight variations in leather tone or rivet alignment are part of its authentic character.

To ensure your leather lasts for years:

• Remove dirt with a soft brush or a slightly damp cloth.
• Never dry wet leather near a direct heat source (radiator, fire); let it air dry naturally at room temperature.
• Regularly treat the leather with a high-quality leather balm or wax to keep it supple and prevent cracking.
