Design and Features
This tunic is crafted from 100% wool woven in a durable twill weave. Twill is historically accurate for the period and offers better drape and durability compared to plain weaves. The tunic reaches approximately to the mid-thigh (Total length for size L is approx. 96 cm / 37.8 inches), providing ample coverage while maintaining mobility.
Key features include:
- Side Slits: Located at the bottom hem, these ensure you can run, fight, or ride a horse without restriction.
- Split Neckline: The round neck features a central slit (keyhole). You can wear it open for a casual look or fasten it with a penannular brooch (fibula) for a tighter fit against the cold.
Historical Usage
During the Viking Age, wool was the fabric of choice for survival in the harsh Northern climate. A natural, undyed tunic like this would have been a staple for everyone from farmhands to Jarls. It functions perfectly as:

Care Instructions
Wool is a natural fiber with self-cleaning properties, but when it needs cleaning, handle it with care:
- Hand Wash Only: Use cold or lukewarm water (max 30°C / 86°F) and a detergent specifically for wool.
- Drying: Lay flat to dry. Do not hang the tunic while it is wet, as the weight of the water will stretch the fabric. Do not use a tumble dryer.
