Historical Context and Cut Adaptation

Although garments of this type are often dubbed "Viking shirts" in popular culture, from a historian's perspective, this is a very loose and modern fantasy interpretation. Real Norsemen in the 8th to 11th centuries wore tunics (known as kyrtill) with a much simpler, narrower sleeve cut and without front lacing at the neck. Richly gathered sleeves drawn tight at the forearms and prominent laced V-necks are instead popular elements of modern fantasy, LARP, and famous historical video games and series. However, this is precisely why this tunic is perfect for building a unique character, where epic atmosphere and visual impact triumph over strict historical accuracy (living history).

Material Options

The tunic is available in two high-quality material variants, so you can choose the one that best suits your needs:

• Fustian / Cotton Velour (100% cotton): A strong, densely woven fabric with a brushed face side (resembling velour or fine velvet). It holds its shape excellently and provides more warmth, making it ideal for spring or autumn events.
• Linen-Cotton Blend (70% linen, 30% cotton): A lightweight and breathable option. Linen naturally cools and absorbs sweat, while the addition of cotton softens the fabric and reduces its tendency to crease. The perfect choice for hot summer days.

Technical Parameters

Care and Maintenance Instructions

To preserve the quality of the fabric and colours, we recommend machine washing the tunic on a gentle cycle at a maximum temperature of 30 °C (86 °F). Use mild detergents without optical brighteners. Do not spin the garment at high speeds, and never use a tumble dryer, to prevent the natural fibres from shrinking. Dry hanging freely in a well-ventilated area. Ironing can be done from the reverse (inside) on a medium setting.

Given that the tunic is made of 100% natural materials and features very wide sleeves, exercise maximum caution near open flames (campfires, torches). The tunic serves a purely aesthetic role; it is not protective armour (padded gambeson) and provides no protection during contact historical fencing or HEMA combat.

Please note that the belt, leather pouch, trousers, and any other accessories shown in the photographs are not included in the delivery.
