This Viking drinking horn is made from ethically sourced, genuine ox horn. Its gracefully curved shape and smooth finish are the result of meticulous handcraftsmanship that follows traditions thousands of years old. Drinking from a horn was not exclusive to the Vikings; this custom was widespread across many cultures since antiquity, including the Celts and Germanic tribes. Important Instructions for Use and Care
As this is a natural product, it is absolutely essential to follow these instructions to ensure your horn serves you well for a long time:
What to put in the horn:
The horn is intended exclusively for cold and lukewarm drinks. You can safely enjoy beer, mead, wine, water, and non-acidic soft drinks in it.
What NOT to put in the horn:
- HOT DRINKS: Hot coffee, tea, mulled wine, and other hot liquids can permanently damage the horn, cause it to warp, and compromise the inner lacquer!
- STRONG ALCOHOL: Avoid liquids with an alcohol content of over 20%.
- DISHWASHER & MICROWAVE: NEVER wash the horn in a dishwasher or heat it in a microwave!
How to care for the horn:
- After use, immediately wash the horn by hand in lukewarm water with a little mild soap.
- Never leave the horn soaking in water for a long time.
- Dry it immediately and thoroughly with a soft cloth after washing.
- Occasionally, you can rub the outer surface with a thin layer of a food-safe oil (like flaxseed oil) to refresh its shine.
Note: This is a natural product. Minor scuffs or surface cracks that may develop over time are a natural characteristic of the material and add to its character.
