Viking Drinking Horn with Engraved Valknut Symbol
The Legacy of the Norsemen and the Symbolism of the Valknut
Drinking horns have accompanied mankind since time immemorial but experienced their golden age primarily in the early Middle Ages during the Viking expansions, which took place roughly from the 8th to the 11th century. For the Norsemen, the horn was not just an ordinary vessel, but a sacred symbol of fellowship and ritual celebrations. This product is additionally decorated with an engraving of the magical Valknut symbol. The Valknut, often called the knot of the slain, is an Old Norse symbol closely associated with the god Odin and the afterlife of fallen warriors. The vessel is carefully crafted from 100% natural horn from ethically slaughtered cattle. The inside of the horn is treated with a food-safe resin varnish, so you can drink from it without any worries. Please note that the colour and natural texture of the horn are absolutely unique to each specimen, and therefore the delivered piece may differ slightly from the illustrative photographs.

Care and Safety Principles
Horn is a beautiful but delicate natural material that requires your care. Never wash the product in a dishwasher or heat it in a microwave oven, as this would cause irreversible damage and destroy it! The vessel is suitable exclusively for cold to lukewarm drinks, such as beer, mead, wine, or water. Hot beverages, acidic non-alcoholic sodas, and drinks with an alcohol content above 20 percent are completely unsuitable. Before first use, wash the horn by hand under running lukewarm water with a mild detergent. To extend its lifespan and prevent cracking, we recommend lightly treating the outer surface of the horn with beeswax after each use.
Recommended Accessories
For this Nordic horn, we highly recommend getting a practical forged iron table stand or a leather belt frog, so you always have your favourite drink safely at hand. The iron stand shown in some photographs is not included in the delivery. To complete your 9th to 10th-century Viking costume, a linen tunic and a sturdy leather belt from our range will also be very useful.
