Erik Woolen Viking Tunic – Wine Red – Early Medieval Garb

A Cut That Doesn't Restrict the Warrior

Forget shapeless sacks. The Erik tunic is designed according to archaeological finds from the 8th to 11th centuries. The key features here are the side gores and underarm gussets. As a fencer, I guarantee you will appreciate this. When you raise your arm with a sword or axe to strike, the tunic won't ride up or pull tight across your back. The mid-thigh length is ideal for layering over trousers and leg wraps.

Material and Color: Back to Roots

The wine red color looks rich and in the Middle Ages would signify that you are not a ragged pauper, but a successful free man. Wool has amazing thermoregulating properties – it warms even when damp and breathes, so you won't overheat. Since this is a heavy fabric, I recommend wearing a linen undertunic beneath it, which ensures maximum comfort for your skin and protects the wool from sweat.

Size Chart

To ensure the tunic fits you perfectly, measure yourself and compare your measurements with the table below.

Size Chest Circumference (Body) Sleeve Length Total Length
S 37.5-40 in (96-102 cm) 21 in (54 cm) 31 in (79 cm)
M 40-42.5 in (102-108 cm) 22 in (56 cm) 33 in (84 cm)
L 42.5-45 in (108-114 cm) 22.5 in (58 cm) 35 in (89 cm)
XL 45-47 in (114-120 cm) 23.5 in (60 cm) 37 in (94 cm)
XXL 47-49.5 in (120-126 cm) 24.5 in (62 cm) 39 in (99 cm)
XXXL 49.5-52 in (126-132 cm) 25 in (64 cm) 43.7 in (111 cm)

How to Care for Your Woolen Treasure

Wool is a natural material with self-cleaning capabilities. Often, it is enough to simply air out the tunic in fresh air (ideally in foggy or damp weather, not in direct sunlight).

  • Washing: I recommend dry cleaning. If you must wash at home, do so only by hand in cold water with lanolin. Avoid the washing machine to prevent felting (shrinking).
  • Drying: Never wring it out. Lay the tunic flat on a drying rack and let it air dry naturally.
  • Storage: Use moth protection (cedar wood, lavender).

Note: Accessories in the photos (belt, pouch, sword, trousers) are not included. Due to the use of recycled wool, the shade and structure of the fabric may vary slightly from piece to piece.
