Spanish General's Sabre – Toledo Pattern – Gold Plated
Design and Symbolism
You will be immediately captivated by the brass hilt, which is gold-plated for maximum allure and durability. The crossguard terminates in detailed lion heads, a traditional symbol of strength and courage associated with the Spanish Crown. The central escutcheon features military insignia typical of a General's rank. The grip, crafted in faux ivory, is wrapped with gold wire, ensuring both a firm hold and aesthetic perfection.
Blade and Craftsmanship
The blade, measuring approximately 90 cm (35.4 inches), is crafted from high-quality stainless steel. This is a significant advantage for ceremonial weapons – it requires minimal maintenance while retaining a mirror-like shine. The blade surface features deep acid etching with floral motifs and arabesques, a hallmark of the Toledo school. At the ricasso, you will find the "FÁBRICA DE TOLEDO" mark, referencing the historical origin of the design.
Usage and Safety
Please bear in mind that this sabre is primarily a decorative and ceremonial item. While the stainless steel blade is solid, it is not designed for fencing, reenactment combat, or cutting. The material may be brittle under impact. The sabre comes complete with a polished metal scabbard featuring a single suspension ring.
Maintenance
Although stainless steel is resistant to corrosion, we recommend wiping the blade with a soft, dry cloth after handling. Human perspiration can be acidic and may leave marks on the polished surface. For long-lasting shine, you can occasionally use a metal polish.
