The Magical Vegvisir Symbol and Decoration
The central motif of this horn is the hand-engraved and colour-filled Vegvisir symbol. Although popularly referred to today as the Viking compass, this sign historically originates from later Icelandic magical grimoires (such as the 19th-century Huld manuscript). Its purpose was to protect the bearer from getting lost in bad weather and to help them always find a safe path home. The aesthetic value of the horn is significantly enhanced by the pure brass rim and tip. The brass rim is meticulously decorated with an engraved Celtic knotwork ornament, granting the entire piece a grandiose, noble character.

Horn Care and Important Safety Guidelines
To ensure this unique horn serves you for as long as possible, specific maintenance rules must be followed. The inside of the horn is treated with a resin lacquer certified for contact with food, which prevents the leakage of liquids and the absorption of odours. Beverages such as beer, mead, wine, water, and non-acidic cold soft drinks are perfectly suitable for serving in this vessel.
- However, hot drinks and liquids with an alcohol content exceeding 20% are strictly prohibited, as they would irreversibly damage the internal protective layer.
- The product would be severely degraded and ruined if you were to wash it in a dishwasher or heat it in a microwave oven. Also, avoid soaking the horn in water for extended periods.
- Before the first use and after every subsequent drink, wash the horn exclusively by hand under running lukewarm water.
- Natural horn can dry out and crack over time due to environmental factors. To maintain its flexibility and beautiful shine, we highly recommend treating the exterior of the horn with genuine beeswax or natural oil after every use.
